Your first visit to Alani Dental Center is all about understanding your needs and creating a plan catering to your individual needs. Here’s what you can expect during your initial one-hour appointment:
The Alani Holistic Process
During your visit, we will:
- Discuss Your Health Goals
We’ll have a detailed conversation about your overall health, oral health goals, and any dental-related issues you have been experiencing. - Assess the Risk Factors
Our comprehensive questionnaire will help us evaluate your risk for decay, periodontal disease, and other potential health issues. We will also discuss your current medications and medical history. Certain medications and medical conditions can effect your oral health. - Provide Guidance on Recommended Treatments
Based on our evaluation, we’ll recommend treatments to help you achieve your goals. This will include a nutritional consultation to understand your daily dietary needs. - Discuss Any Fears and Anxieties
We’ll talk about any dental fears or anxieties you may have, so our team knows how to make you feel more comfortable at your dental visits. - Perform Six-Point Measurements
Our team will evaluate each tooth and your gumline to assess your gum health, identify any early warning signs of cracks, stains, or decay, and create a detailed picture of your oral health.
Full Mouth Digital X-Rays
During your first visit, we’ll take a full mouth series of digital X-rays, including bitewings, to establish a clear baseline of your current oral health. Our digital X-ray equipment offers these benefits:
- Reduced exposure to radiation
- Immediate, high-resolution images for detailed assessments
- A wider field of view for a comprehensive look at your teeth and gums
- Patient-friendly design, requiring only a small stick to be held between your teeth
These images are a valuable reference so we can monitor any oral health changes at your next dental visits.
Evaluation and Personalized Care
We do not complete a professional cleaning at your very first appointment. Instead, the focus is on conducting a complete evaluation and risk assessment. This includes periodontal probing to fully assess the health of your gums and identify any problem areas. Once we know your current oral health status, we can develop a plan to help you maintain a healthy smile. A separate dental cleaning appointment will be scheduled.
Your Treatment Plan
After your initial evaluation, we’ll provide a comprehensive list of recommended treatments tailored to your needs. Your treatment plan will cover what needs to happen urgently to treat immediate oral health concerns and also your long-term goals.
Financial Consultation and Membership Plan
We believe quality dental care should be accessible to everyone. During your visit, we’ll review your treatment options and discuss any financial considerations. That includes your insurance coverage and options for payment (including payment plans through CareCredit). For those without dental insurance, we offer membership plans. These plans are an affordable way to access preventive and restorative care.
